Audio Music New & Improv Media

Dave Trenkel of New and Improv offers a wide range of audio production services, including recording, mixing, digital editing and mastering for CD, CD-ROM or the web.

I've been recording myself and my own bands since Jr. High. Back in the days before cassette 4-tracks, I learned how to overdub and splice tape on a friend's father's Norelco(!) reel-to-reel deck. Dave Storrs and I co-operated Califas Studio, where I engineered the cream of the Corvallis Punk Rock scene in the early 1990's: Arcweld, Miscreants, Lazyboy, Lorax and many others. I jumped to computer based hard disk recording in 1994. I've worked on releases ranging from singer songwriters to free jazz, from children's music to metal, from classical music to punk rock. Throughout it all, I believe that recording has a few simple basics: Make the performer comfortable and get a clean signal to tape. The technology should support the performance, not the other way around.
